Must be able to appreciate the historical aspect of this hotel, as well as the area it's in. But for me, I adore places like this and didn't mind the dated feel of my room. I stayed one night in a king room and it was perfect for a bed and a shower. The gentleman that runs the front desk is very kind and helpful! Location is excellent for shopping, dining, and crossing into Mexico on a whim. Be advised that since it's an older building, you can hear your neighbors.

Cheap and cheerful. Budget hotel in a historic 100 year old building. Keep in mind due to the age of the building you’ll have shared bathrooms on your floor. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Located in historic downtown Brownsville,TX. Walking distance to restaurants, bars , Mexico and a 30 minute drive to SpaceX. I will definitely stay again!

This hotel is definitely historic. With that age, comes some wear and tear. It was a good value, and it was run by a lovely family who were attentive to any needs of customers. The area isn't the best area, but it is close to the border crossing if you're in the mood to travel to Mexico, and it is in close proximity to some shops and food spots.

Had a very good 3 night stay here! It's got the perfect location in downtown Brownsville, walkable to everything downtown has to offer. Room was clean and comfortable. They offer an outdoor parking lot and/or indoor garaged parking. Both are secure. Very friendly service. Recommended!

It's an old building but with some excellent staff and service. There is black mold in the shower and your friendly cockroach from time to time. But, the stay was great. I could trust the staff and everyone is friendly. If I has to stay in the area again, Cameron Hotel would be the place.

The best thing I can say about this place is that it's in a great location. The beds were comfortable, but they made a lot of noise when you shifted sleeping positions. Also, the walls are very thin. Aside from that, it's a very old structure, so don't expect luxury. Our room did have a TV with cable and a fridge, though. That was nice.

I was in Brownsville for a week on business and trying to save a few $$ and found the Cameron Hotel. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, don't come here. If you need lots of space, don't come here. If you are use to upscale accommodations, please don't come here! You'll just write an ugly review. This is a vintage type hotel and reminds me of a German Guest House. The rooms are small but adequate. The mattress may not be a fancy pillow top, but it's comfortable enough. Bring eat plugs, you might hear conversations at night you don't really want to hear. The traffic dies down about 9:30-10 and it is very quiet, at least it was during my stay. There's no pool and no breakfast, but you can't beat the price for you or your pet! There's a great pastry shop on the next block and lots of shopping just one street over. Also walking distance to the border crossing if you have your passport and want to see Matamoros. Or a 30 minute drive to South Padre and the beaches!! The family that runs the hotel is very sweet! They try very hard to help in any way. I would stay here again!

Perfect low-cost option for a place to sleep when you're down in Brownsville to watch SpaceX launches. This is not the Ritz-Carlton, but the very friendly hotel staff is a family and will go out of their way to help you. This is not a fancy place, but it's an inexpensive place and good option when you're not spending a lot of time in your hotel room.
